Macomb Mountain

Macomb Mountain is often climbed by itself, but in many cases is combined with the rest or parts of the Dix Range. The Dix Range also includes Dix Mountain, South Dix (Carson Peak), and Hough Peak and Grace Peak (formerly named East Dix). Macomb is one of the most exciting climbs of the Dix Range. It has nice views from the summit, but the climb up the slide is definitely a high point to the day as it provides views of the Great Range and Elk Lake regions as soon as you begin the ascent up the slide. The summit is mostly wooded but a rather large viewing platform offers outstanding views.

The interactive panorama shown above was taken on a crisp fall day – just after the brightest foliage had peaked. On the distant mountains of the Great Range, you can see just a hint of the snow that blanketed the higher elevations in the Adirondacks overnight.

With an elevation of 4405′, this Adirondack 46 High Peak is number 21 on the list of highest New York State mountains.
